Watermelon – Red

Watermelon has everything you need to quench thirst and beat scorching summer heat. The fruit is an excellent source of Vitamin-A, and anti-oxidant flavonoids such as lycopene, beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. Vitamin A is important for good visions and strong immune system, whilst the anti-oxidants can help protect the cells from harmful oxygen-free radicals. The outer surface features a smooth, deep green color, thick exterior rind interspersed with light-green vertical stripes. The flesh inside is red, crunchy and extremely juicy with slight sweetness. Watermelon does have small inedible black seeds embedded in the middle-third portion of the fruit. They can be sliced, cubed, scooped into balls and added to fruit salads or even ice-cream.
